Juran’s chairman and executive adviser, Dr. Joseph A. DeFeo, will be a keynote speaker at the 63rd European Congress of Quality, taking place in Lisbon, Portugal on October 23-24.
Hosted by the European Organisation for Quality (EOQ) since 1956, the congress will this year focus on the theme of ‘Rediscovering Quality’, while also providing an opportunity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Portuguese Association for Quality (APQ).
Dr. DeFeo will open day two with a presentation entitled ‘Business Excellence and Quality 4.0’, which explores how organizations can reduce their cost of quality using Industry 4.0 tools and tactics. Juran are also proud to be sponsoring this year’s event.
In his session, Dr. DeFeo will demonstrate how new technologies such as manufacturing apps are making defect-free production possible, with the result being less inspection, less audit, less corrective action, and less of a need for quality department staff.
However, Dr. DeFeo will go on to explain that quality professionals have an opportunity to sustain their careers by becoming well-versed in new technologies and developing skills that will equip them for Industry 4.0; effectively turning themselves into the “implementers” of new techniques.
Dr. DeFeo will also be speaking at the ASQ Quality 4.0 Summit in Dallas on November 18-19. The conference brings together professionals from various sectors who are looking to understand how quality can help transform their organizations, teams and careers.
